Linux Grayscale images issue

Hi, when I try to show a grayscale (or back and white) image, it appears as stretched with vertical colored lines. I'm running xbmc 11.0 on Ubuntu 11.04. My hadrware is Asrock ION 330 on Toshiba LCD TV.
