Linux Installing XBMCbuntu ON a USB stick
#1
I want to install XBMC onto a USB stick and run it persistently from there.

I have booted from a 2GB stick and I want to install onto another 8GB stick I have in my PC.

Unfortunately for a non Linux user this is not user friendly.

I got an option to install over my Windows installation on my HDD or "something else".

When I select the something else partition I get a dialog asking me if I want to unmount the partitions in use. I know next to nothing about Linux so unfortunately none of what I am reading makes any sense to me. Sad

I have no idea what to do with swap space, file systems or partition tables. Is there any sort of "install it here and do whatever you need to do" option?

use lili or unetbootin with persistency on and you don't need to install it, you just run it from the USB stick.

Ah.....OK - thanks for that.

Do I need to worry about swap files or anything?

Hiya, I did this last night. I kept getting caught with the partition as well. I eventually tries ex2, format, root "/" and it worked. I had freshly formatted it fat32 before i got started.
