Linux Noise when start playing a video over HDMI
#1
I'm having an awful noise, like something crashing (sorry don't know how to explain) like 1 second length and happens only over HDMI. I have a Nvidia GT240, on Eden, audio configured with custom audio output device and passthrough device as "plughw:Nvidia,7". Any advice about what could be the problem?

Just ask for any info that I could give, at the moment I don't have any idea where to start, this is my first setup with HDMI and every thread I found about the topic are really old Sad

Thanks Smile

Edit: tried with this http://www.tolaris.com/2011/07/03/solvin...-and-hdmi/ but didn't help, isn't my problem, but just tried, maybe it was related

Do you have an AMP connected via HDMI or a direct PC-TV connection?

I guess your AMP/TV is not able to decode the encoded digital sound data (for example DTS or Dolby Digital encoded streams) - try disabling these.

I have direct PC-TV. DTS it's disabled because the first movie I tried didn't have sound. Thought that I must have one of both options enabled. Disabled and the noise it's gone.
The tv specs (http://www.samsung.com/us/system/consume...50_v10.pdf) says that supports Dolby Digital Plus, and that was the only one enabled.

Thank you very much for the quick response Smile I'll have to read a lot about audio, I'm really lost in that topic :p
