Hi there,
I recently installed XBMC Live Eden and experiencing some difficulties playing HD movies. While watching a HD movie, I can hear all sound (special effects etc.),except I can't hear any voices. It looks like a channel is missing.
I have a ZBOX ID41
Audio settings:
Audio output: HDMI
Boost volume: off
Dolby Digital: off
DTS capable: off
Audio output device: Custom
Custom audio device: plug:both
Passtrough output device: hdmi(ALSA)
Also noticed this messages in the log:
22:13:06 T:2886708080 NOTICE: Creating audio device with codec id: 86056, channels: 6, sample rate: 48000, no pass-through
22:13:06 T:2886708080 ERROR: PulseAudio: Failed to connect context
22:13:06 T:2886708080 ERROR: PulseAudio: Failed to create context
Any idea how to solve this?

Espie,
Check out my other thread here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=127428 I had the same problem. Set your output from 5.1 to 2.0 for a TV. I found that when watching 5.1 channel sound files (dolby digital) on a 2 channel system you hear all the background noises but no voices. Read that thread and let me know. |

If it's 5.1, and you're "missing voices", you're missing the center channel. For example, if you're sending 6 channels to a device that is only interpreting and outputting stereo, it's only outputting front L/R (sound effects and music).
