Linux Zacate / Fusion - deal or no deal ?
#1
Question
Hi folks,

I searched the forum for zacate builds but unfortunately most of them are old or windows related ...

I'd like to buy this

Quote:Asus E35M1-M
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_CPU...rd/E35M1M/

for my HTPC. It's an AMD E350 board and it's got equal or more power than ION boards (btw. are there any other AMD or ION Board's with PCIexpansion slot ? Most have only PCI-E expansion slots but I need PCI for my DVB-S2 Tuner card .. )

The board will run Linux, XBMC and work as bluray player and satellite receiver (PVR).

Does anybody use a E350/E450 plattform for XBMC running with Linux ?

- which distribution ?
- does it play bluray material / 1080p video ?
- what's the CPU workload ?
- does anybody use it with PVR support ? CPU workload while recording and watching videos ?

Is there anything to keep in mind ?

So long

i was considering the e-350 for myself, but its not really cheaper than a g530 + dedicated gpu like the gt520.

the e350 definitely works with openelec and other linux options with some work.
But after all its just not the best value imho.
1.6ghz might be sufficient and nice to keep them cooled but it could struggle with a very demanding skin or script.
