Linux Newly added video files do not play from esata caddy - Since upgrading to Eden
#1
I have an eSata raid array caddy which has been populated with films.

I have edited the fstab so that the system mounts the eSata drive on boot up.

I then added the location of the drive to the video source list.

Any video added to the drive before upgrading to Eden play fine, however any newly added video file on the eSata raid just refuse to play, I can the newly added films listed but when I click to play, the working progress bar will display for a second and then vanish.

The video files that refuse to play from the eSata caddy play fine from an attached USB drive that I have.

One of the files that I tried to play was: /media/morris/FILMS/facejacker.s02e01.hdtv.x264-river.mp4

I have enabled debugging and here is the log:

Hopefully someone will be able to help, cheers.

The raid caddy also has a USB connection

I have tried to access the newly added files via USB and the errors still remain. So it doesn't look to be an eSata issue.

maybe I am mounting the drives incorrectly? Is there a new way to mount drives in Eden?

I currently use:

UUID=IDGOESHERE /media/morris ntfs-3g default, nobootwait, user 0

Which always worked in the previous build I was using

Ok so this is also an issue with older versions of XBMC, not just eden as I have tried with a USB version of XBMC.

Does no one have any ideas at all?

Surely there are people out there using raid caddys and connecting to xbmc

The problem was that I was adding the files using windows home server and then trying to play them on XBMC ubuntu

If I add the files to the caddy when on Ubuntu, they play fine within XBMC.

No idea why but it is working now.
