ATV2 - iOS 4.4.4
XBMC Eden Final
Wired via Cat5.e to ReadyNAS Duo using NFS

Log: http://pastebin.com/05itixKe

Media Info: http://pastebin.com/panyNj2A

The file is a test 1080P/Dolby Digital file. I know the bitrate hits a high 29mbps at some points but even when it sits around 3-10mbps it drops frames constantly and the whole image stutters yet this isn't the case with other files of the same quality/bitrate.

Just that the ATV2 can't handle the grunt?

Log is full of the same error of:
Code:
12:27:30 T:135487488   ERROR: ffmpeg[8136000]: [h264] non-existing PPS referenced
12:27:30 T:135487488   ERROR: ffmpeg[8136000]: [h264] non-existing PPS 0 referenced
12:27:30 T:135487488   ERROR: ffmpeg[8136000]: [h264] decode_slice_header error
12:27:30 T:135487488   ERROR: ffmpeg[8136000]: [h264] no frame!
and
Code:
12:27:32 T:136019968  NOTICE: Decode - VTDecompressionSessionDecodeFrame returned(-12911)

the hw decoder spits it out - so does ffmpeg. Maybe try it again when nightlys get restarted - new ffmpeg version will be in there...

Just an update that I grabbed the new version for OS X with the updated ffmpeg from here (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=128471&page=2) and it plays the file without dropping a single frame now whereas the OS X version used to be as bad as the ATV2 one. So it looks like it's fixed already, just will wait for nightlies now. Cheers.

I have the same problem, I hope the nightlies will fix this. Is there any indication when atv2 nightlies will start back up? I could only find they are delayed due to some issues, but nothing more specific.

That's about as specific as they can get - it's hard to predict when you can figure out and fix an issue. The only way you'll know is when the nightlies start appearing again (or perhaps the night before when Memphiz and/or Davilla mention that they are done and the nightlie will be created overnight Smile )

It was an issue with the version of ffmpeg (I think) and the latest version has been compiled into the OS X build of XBMC hence it working but there is a problem with it in the iOS build from what i've read. As DLeavy said, once they work it out it will work, either that or they start them now and you have a broken build of XBMC, up to you. Wink

Its more of having a broken atv2 after that not only a broken XBMC install Wink
