Hi,

A little bit of background.
I have a NAS upstairs filled with 200gb of AVCHD footage from my panasonic camera. It produces mts and m2ts files. In order watch these video's downstairs on my tv I was adviced by friends to try XBMC. I installed the app on my laptop for testing and I was pleasantly surprised about the tool.
Now my plan is to buy an Apple tv 3, wait until the jailbreak is available, and install XBMC on it.
The only question I have is: is the Apple tv 3 capable of playing AVCHD files smoothly on XMBC streaming from a NAS? I'm asking this because AVCHD files are pretty heavy and CPU intensive.

If not, what would you advice.

I have AppleTV2, I'm not able to play AVCHD file with 1080i on it smoothly with wired.
Hope ATV3 can do!

I found a cheaper solution. I still have a pretty heavy computer upstairs which I use for video editing. I bought a 15 meter HDMI cable and connected this to the TV downstairs.. Works perfectly together with the ipad XBMC remote control.
