Hi I've been running 4.1 for a while and have updated xbmc to eden a while back.
Just wondering if I wanted to update the apple tv software does this wipe of XBMC and all addons setting etc?

Yes. It will put a plain version of iOS on the device, deleting all of the jailbreak/extra software (like XBMC). You can backup the settings, see here: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBM...s_settings
But also it is recommended you stay before iOS 4.4.4 as after that it uses more resources so leaves less for XBMC. Also the new iOS 5.1 jailbreak is only tethered at the moment but that is up to you I suppose.
