I've noticed that XBMC sometimes reports a different audio codec (the correct one) than MediaInfo. I thought XBMC used MediaInfo to get it's codec info, but maybe I'm wrong on that. Anyhow, I've only noticed it on BluRay HD audio. For example I have the BluRay movie American History X and MediaInfo reports two audio streams and says both are ac3. When I play the movie in XBMC and hit the "O" key, the info says "truehd" for the default audio track which is accurate for that particular movie. Why the difference?
I've also noticed a couple movies that have DTS-HD audio tracks and MediaInfo reports them as just DTS, but XBMC reports "dca (DTS-HD)". The XBMC movie db shows two streams saying both are "dca". I've always known dca to be regular DTS. How does XBMC know it's DTS-HD?

XBMC does not use mediainfo. It uses ffmpeg to determine codec type.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting. Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules. For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first. ![]() |
