I was correct in some previous posts, but not when I said that it could do the same job as two splitters. The splitters can be plugged in and left, whereas the matrix would require switching everytime you changed rooms (unless you had four outputs, but then it's more expensive).
I think we're confusing the poor guy. I know I would be.

This helped me a great deal since I didn't realize before starting this thread that HDMI splitting was a viable option, and now I see that it is and isn't that expensive. Likely cheaper than the plan I had at the start. Once I get the move started, I will snag a pair of splitters and should be able to reduce my HTPC and Cable box inventory to half!!
