Hi,

Apparently there are quite a few people that are experiencing the "failed to initialize audio device" problem.

My problem started after several weeks of using XBMC v11 - beta 3. All of a sudden there was no sound with any of our movies, although they played just fine with VLC and other programs such as HULU had no audio problems.

After going through all the settings I found that this brought audio back:

1. Go to System | Settings
   
2. Select System again
   
3. Select Audio output
   
4. UNcheck Dolby Digital (AC3) capable receiver
   

Hopefully this works for somebody else.

I was getting this message on some but not all of my movies. Took your advice, they now ALL play well. Many thanks!

Only question now is have I lost 5.1 surround
