Creating my First HTPC
#1
Creating my first HTPC and I am trying to decide on an OS to run XBMC on.

Seems that Linux (or XBMCbuntu) is out of the question due to lack of Netflix support (big for me), so I am left with a form of Windows.

Was wondering which version would run the fastest and smoothest.

Was considering TinyXP, though I am unsure how smooth that would be with drivers,

Or Windows 7 starter.

All I really want is the XBMC but I need a host OS that will support Netflix, but again I want it to be fast.

*edit* also, does XBMC and/or XBMCbuntu support Blu-Ray Drives?

Windows 7 is your best choice, and you'll have full support of hard acceleration too....

XBMC+Windows 7 support BD-ROm, but you'll need AnyDVD HD in the background to decrypt blu-ray...

I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Should I use Windows 7 Basic for simplicity's sake?

That is up to you.....I'm using Windows 7 64-bit home premium, and it's very quick and very clean. You can customize Windows7 too- Customizing Windows for XBMC.....
