I'm getting some audio dropouts on a few DVD iso files. They are 1:1 copies. The debug log is here

http://pastebin.com/vRrUfRiS

If you skip foward then back, the audio returns (if your passed the point of dropout). SOmetimes the audio completely drops out, this last time only the dialogue dropped out.

I noticed the sound has dropped to stereo on my receiver. Sometimes it says PCM or MPCM??

I've done some searching etc. Found this post http://www.stmlabs.com/tag/xbmc/ that talks about Alsa and a discontinuity problem...and needing a later version.

Is this what I need?? If so, how do you upgrade just alsa?

I am using audio over HDMI.

Thx for the insight.

Is it possible one of the Dev's that knows about such things could comment on what could be causing this and how I go about fixing it?? Would be much appreciated.
