Audio problem "can't find a next item to play"
#1
Anyone else experiencing(ed) this problem on Eden when playing audio files? I've installed three different versions of Eden on Ubuntu Oneiric (11.10) and they're all exhibiting the same problem when trying to play audio files.

Version 2:11.0-0~ppa1`oneiric obtained here - https://launchpad.net/~nathan-renniewald...bmc-stable
Version 2:11.0~git20120321.feb09-0ubuntu`oneiric obtained here - https://launchpad.net/~team-xbmc/+archive/ppa
and an "unstable RC2" version installed with these instructions - http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...ht=oneiric

All vanilla installs with no addons.

All do the same thing on two different machines (both Intel core 2 duo) When trying to play any audio file the file won't play and a message appears in the lower right hand corner of the screen - in a blue box with a white letter "i" in it the first line is the word "Playlist" and the second says "can't find next item to play."

There are no playlist involved here and this message appears regardless what type of audio file is trying to be opened and regardless it's location (network server, individual file on a usb drive etc.

Audio is fine on video files so I don't think it's a hardware issue

I am encountering nearly the same issue since yesterday after building from the latest source. I can still play music using my normal IR remote control. In my case I get your error message when I attempt to play music from library (artist, song etc.) on the Android remote app. Navigating to the file and tapping still works as always. Just putting this down in case the devs need more info.

I figured what this was. I was accessing files on a synology nas and it played some of my songs and others it didn't. The culprit turned out to be the permissions of the files! I don't know why. Everyone was supposed to have reading access to that folder but anyways, I applied the settings again and marked the option to apply it to all subfolders and files and xbmc inmediately could play those troublesome files, I didn't even have to restart the app. I hope this works for all of you too.
