I did another merge this morning that is supposed to resolve an issue with crashing when no video is present.
Since I don't subscribe anymore, can someone please test and make sure the tree isn't burned.
If it is reported working I will push this to the main repo ... like I should have done more than a year ago

Dear all,

I'm just going straight to the point, I've a Raspberry Pi with Kodi (17.6) and the Crunchyroll add-on (2.2). I've been watching anime using RPi and Kodi for more than two years now.
What's happening now is I can barely watch any anime, it fails almost all the time.
For instance, this past Saturday I was trying to watch the latest episode of Black Clover, and I've got a couple of error messages before being able to watch it. On Sunday, I've tried to watch different series and all I've got was errors. Today, same behaviour, 1 out of 50 times works... I've tried with the addon Github version, same result.
My Internet connection works like a charm, and I'm able to watch Crunchyroll in the web browser and in the PS4 app.

The error I see in the Kodi log is:
ERROR: OpenDemuxStream - Error creating demuxer

You will need to provide a Debug_Log (wiki). The instructions are in my signature. Use the Basic method. Once you have enabled debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging, restart Kodi then replicate the problem. In your case, try to play the movie. Once done upload to https://pastebin.com/ or https://paste.ubuntu.com/ and link back here. Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs

I can use it from the browser of my gaming pc, or app on my cellphone, so I dont think is a bloking issue. Also, I have a slow connection (8mbit), so i would like to watch videos on lower quality settings, but it doesnt let me do it, just always 1080p, I mean when it worked.

I have reinstalled the addon and nothing works.

since a few weeks I have problems running the Crunchyroll add-on as well. I am using Kodi 17.5 on a Raspberry Pi.

When trying to play a video it happens more often than not that the little PLAY icon in the upper corner is displayed, but then shows an error message: playback not possible. Once in a while it works (for a few videos only though).

Tried cleaning cache and deleting thumbnails, re-installed crunchyroll addon 2.2.2 and restarted Kodi to no avail.

Crunchyroll App works fine on Xbox One and mobiles.

Seems like we're out of luck. Not many people using this addon and is too buggy at the moment. Right now, Im thinking to migrate to android TV to be able to use crunchyroll and netflix there.

For me this problems occur since nearly 2 years.
Because of that I have done a complete rewrite of this addon

Important to mention for my addon is: if the playback fails wait for a few seconds.
Due to stream encoding "mistakes" at crunchyroll my addon tries two playback methods and one will work
