[HTPC Build Check/Discussion] High-End SFF HTPC
#1
This is a HTPC, so these were my priorities
- Case max depth is not greater than 33 (The smaller and prettier the better)
- Very low noise (Passive not required)
- 3D 1080p Bluray compatible (Should be able to play anything basicly)
- High Wife Acceptance Factor (I'm building for my dad, and my mom has a word xD)
- Easy maintenance and usage

With that said this is what I've come up with, and I would really appreciate some feedback.
I was considering a mITX case (Streacom) but i felt the 150W was too little for a HDD, a SSD, a ODD, etc

What about blu-ray and storage then?
Doesn't that exceed the 150W power available in picoPSU's

I'd love to fit it in a Streacom box

no problem for bluray. the ISK300-65 uses a slim one.

what do u mean storage?
u cant to fit a mechanical hard drive in your htpc?

why not go for external HDD?

Anyone got experience with the Streacom fc5-od-fanless-chassis ?

Looks jaw dropping, and if 150W is sufficient, this could go.

The FC8 fanless is one of my favorite......

Streacom FC8 plus Asus F1A75-I DELUXE will make a great silent HTPC......

How does this look?

Case: Streacom FC8
CPU: AMD A-Series A6-3500 APU
PSU: Streacom 150W PicoPSU
SSD: Crucial SSD m4 128GB
External HDD: LaCie Porsche Design Desktop 2TB
Motherboard: Asus F1A75-I Deluxe
RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz 2x2GB CL9
Blu-Ray ODD: Sony BC-5600S
Remote Solution: Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium EN

Pros: Looks FREAKING sexy, both the htpc and the external HDD, Completely Passive except the external HDD and ODD
Cons: Limited expansion possibilities, because of limited PSU, and Mini-ITX

looks top noch.

the Asus F1A75-I Deluxe is confirmed working in the Streacom FC8 case.

u should be able to put a 3.5inch hard drive in there.
specs say
1x2.5” and one 3.5" HD drive bay.

so, no need for LaCie Porsche Design Desktop 2TB

Yes, CPU with high TDP and discrete GPU are entirely different setup than the low TDP all-in-one CPU. Since the case cover is the heatsink (it'll dissipate the heat into the air efficiently), I'm confidence that it'll stay cooler than the internal fanless heatsink CPU cooler and GPU cooler......
