xbmc locks up when trying to play media [eden, 12.04]
#1
Yesterday everything was fine. Beautiful. Sun was shining and my dogs were happily running around on the soft grass. XBMC was showing me teh movies from my Synology NAS. (I was connecting using afp), XBMC was playing my dvds

Today I see that 12.04 LTS is out, so I upgrade my htpc to it. Thunderclouds roll in. xbmc is now not showing me anything from my NAS. log file says that AFP is not recognized. I'm calm. No sweat. I can switch to NFS. I follow the guide to setup the correct NAS insecurities.

in terminal I can ping my NAS. it likes it.
in XBMC I can play videos from youtube, etc.
in XBMC I can browse my NFS and it finds my NAS ip, finds my NAS NFS shares (even a brand new share), but though I added it, I get the message
"Remote share - Could not connect to network server"
If i select a media file, xbmc says it is working, but it would work forever. If I hit stop, xbmc hangs and I have to sudo kill it.

here is the log
http://pastebin.com/8YiddaXx

It appears that xbmc is trying to use something called DVDplayer to play this (any) file, but then it hangs when I try to stop.

Thanks in advance for helping!

xbmc can play files locally on the system, just not over NFS.

why would that be? what can I do to enable playback over NFS?
