Free/GPL family games for Linux?

Can anyone recommend any free/gpl/otherwise freely available family-style games that will run under Ubuntu? I'd like to add some to XBMC for when we have guests or company and want to play something different. Looking for either cooperative or competitive games. Something like Mario Cart would be nice, or similar style fun family games.

Have a look in the Ubuntu Software Center or maybe check over at the Ubuntu Forums.
