I recently changed from Live to Windows when Eden became available. Since then I have had nothing but issues with a lagging response time from the remote to when XBMC responds. Not knowing if this was an issue with Eden, I installed Dharma on my Win7 machine, and have had the same issues...

Please understand that this is not a lag in loading fanart (for example) but a distinct lag in reponse in switching movie to movie, menu to menu, as though someting in the background is chewing up resources.

So it's Microsoft's problem... That sounds familiar.

In the task manager, I have never seen my CPU utilization creep above 42%

I have a base Win7 Premium installation. In msconfig, I have selectively disabled all startup apps other than XBMC. I have not affected any services.

So, this is a cry for help. What can I do to increase the responsivity of my system, decrease the unnecessary Microsoft BS and leave unchanged the Wife-usablity of the HTPC.

Thanks

Matt

What skin are you using? A highly art driven skin can have dire consequences on under powered systems. I used to run XBMC on an older AMD x2 3800+ system using the default Confluence skin with no lag at all.

Read this before using these builds.

Thanks kricker for the reply.

On Dharma Live I was running MQ2 with no issues whatsoever.

When I went Win7 and Eden I switched to MQ3 - definitely image intensive, and it was laggy(?sp).

When I switched to Win7 with Dharma, I started off with Confluence, and had lagging issues, eventually installed MQ2, and continue to have lagging issues.

Is it the remote? Do you get the lag if you use a keyboard instead?

I have the same system as you minus the video card. Never a issue for me.
I use this remote - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6880121001
Here's how I set my remote, maybe you will find the answer.

Disable Windows Media Center/Media Player

Use MCERemote - (Programs/Add-ons/Get More/MCERemote)

May sound like a long shot, put new batteries in the remote?
Best of luck to you!

I do in fact have the same issue with the keyboard as I do with the remote. I am using a Logitech Harmony 900 - recharges, so no batteries to worry about. I'll keep playing around, and if I come up with anything report back.

Thanks for the thoughts.
