System details:
Installed XBMCBuntu Live CD.
XBMC Eden
uname -r: 3.0.0-17-generic-pae
DELL Dimension 520
Intel Core 2 Duo e6300 1.86Ghz
4GB RAM
nVidia Corporation G72 [GeForce 7300 LE] (rev. a1)

Video media is on a SMB share on a Win 7 machine.

Problem:
XBMC restarts while navigating through the file menus.

Initially running XBMCLive 10 when problem started.
XBMC working for 4 months, no issues.
One evening sat down to watch a movie and XBMC restarts while navigating the Library menu.

definition of 'xbmc restarts' (XBMC return to main menu and started scanning for new content.)

Deleted XBMCLive 10 and installed XBMCBuntu 11. Initially appeared to work, but XBMC restarted when trying to play a movie.
I selected the movie and it brought be back to the main menu.
After the first restart it continued to restart when navigating the Library menu wouldn't even let me select a movie to play.

resolution attempts:

1.I have reinstalled XBMCbuntu 3 times with no change.

2.Looked at the crashlog, but can't find any error that stands out as the reason it restarts.

3.Attempted to diagnose the problem found in this post http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=127507
No errors when I ran 'aplay -L' and could not find the file .asound.rc that is described in the post.

I'll post the crash log in case someone else will have better luck seeing the problem.

Please let me know if there is any other information required.
Thank you.

at the end of the log it seems you are trying to launch 2 movies at the same time.

If it is opening two movies at once, it's not on purpose. Can you copy the output you're referring to? To me it looks like it's trying to scan for information on one movie while starting to play another. But that's why I posted it online in case someone sees something I'm not. Thanks for the reply.

Hello,

Problem is solved. Turns out it was a corrupted video file as per: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=127579

Does anyone know what makes a movie file corrupted for XBMC not to play?
Is there a way of testing it before putting the file in the Library?

thanks,
