Win Video playback stops suddenly
#1
Exclamation
After upgrading to Eden I've gotten this problem where playback suddenly stops. To watch the rest of the problematic video, I have to start from the beginning and skip past the time of the problem. Playback works perfectly in all other players I've tried like VLC and Zoom player.

Log file is here: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=2352

Looks like there is definitely an error reading the file:
Code:
10:52:30 T:3184   ERROR: ffmpeg[C70]: [matroska,webm] Invalid EBML number size tag 0x0b at pos 836537823 (0x31dc8ddf)
10:52:30 T:3184   ERROR: ffmpeg[C70]: [matroska,webm] Read error at pos. 838106359 (0x31f47cf7)
10:52:38 T:1980   ERROR: ffmpeg[7BC]: [h264] cabac decode of qscale diff failed at 37 4
10:52:38 T:1980   ERROR: ffmpeg[7BC]: [h264] error while decoding MB 37 4, bytestream (18664)
How many videos do you have that do this?

A lot. 3 out of 4 at least. Bugs me like h***. The strange part is that other players don't have any problems playing them at all.....

It'd be interesting to know if any other ffmpeg based players have issues with those files.

Mplayer is the only one I can think of off hand.

Just tried Mplayer. Came up with this:

[h264 @ 00E1B8F4]cabac decode of qscale diff failed at 37 4
[h264 @ 00E1B8F4]error while decoding MB 37 4, bytestream (18664)
[h264 @ 00E1B8F4]concealing 3292 DC, 3292 AC, 3292 MV errors

stopped at the same spot. This didn't happen to me before i updated xbmc to eden. Dharma used to play those files perfectly......

Feel like posting a sample file, or trying a nightly build to see if any recent ffmpeg changes take care of the issue? If you do try a nightly, I recommend you install it into a different folder and run it in portable mode so as to not mess with your current setup.

Are you trying to run it in a virtual environment or via Remote Desktop? Seems most of the report for that error were due to not having proper video drivers installed, or trying to run virtually.
