Disable HW Acceleration on a per video basis

99%+ of my videos play perfect with hardware acceleration enabled (in my case either vaapi or xvba), but a handful suffer from extreme artifacts. There are many in the forums with the same issue. The common answer is decide what you want more HW Acceleration or no artifacts. It would be nice if when you pulled up the in movie video settings that you could turn hardware acceleration off for just that movie.

the problem is how you know which movie has problem with HW Acc without playing it first?

How is that a problem? Once you identify it just disable HW Acc. It isn't like XBMC locks up, the video just looks like utter garbage.

sounds more like encoding problems, than XBMC problems.

When I personally find one of my files messed up in XBMC, I re-encode/find a new copy.
