Group 6 build
#1
Well I am officially throwing in the towel. I've spent the last week or so trying to research the parts for my first htpc build. We recently bought a house and are trying to cut the cable cord and go the HTPC route. I've done a few desktop builds, but forever reason the htpc world seems completely Greek to me.

I've gone through the great stickies and these forums fairly extensively, but to no avail.

So far here is my wishlist from Newegg: https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySav...D=21585086

I need some help filling in the rest. So as the title says, I think I am a Group 6 user. This machine will basically need to do everything for my family including:

.1080p Streaming (netflix, hulu, etc)
.Some bluray playing
.playing 720/1080 files (mkv, etc) that will be ripped with the additional bluray drive (does that need to be br-writeable, or just br-player?)
.capture card for our OTA antenna
.maybe some old school ROM gaming.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm in the States, and am looking at a budget around $600 or so. Anything I save I can put towards a simple NAS to use as a always-on pvr of sorts.

If I click on your list it wants me to log in and then gives me an empty wish list.

Yeah that did seem odd when I was looking at the url. Dumb.

Basically it was to show everyone how little I have picked -

Case: Silverstone ML03B http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6811163174

CPU: AMD A6-3500 + GPU (From the A6-pack build)

and a rf remote that is on sale for black friday.

I plan on doing a small 32gb SSD for the OS, and though I would rather linux it up, i'll probably go with windows 7.
