Hey guys,

I read about the guide on how to use Kinect with XBMC and am interested to see the feedbacks from those who are currently using this setup. Is it worth it?

I am planning to get the xbox360 version of kinect and hook it up to my computer. This would work correct?

Besides controlling XBMC, what else can I do with it?

Could I control my mouse and surf the web with it?

Is there anything else that you guys do with the kinect on your computer?

Last but not least, would it work in a dark room, assuming that the only light source is my 24" monitor?

I feel like I can only comfortably answer your last question. Kinect uses its own infrared light source to track movement, so it could be used in a pitch black room and still be able to work just as well in a lit room.

I can answer your first question. Yes, the Kinect for XBox 360 can be hooked to your PC. Me and a buddy are working on a voice controlled XBMC using the Kinect. Which for many things I think would be better than gesture control.
