Remote Access if XBMC won't start?
#1
Hi,

I have ATV2 running XBMC, configured to boot directly with apt-get install org.tomcool.xbmc-booter

However now, after months of working it will not startup, I see the Apple Logo then a black screen.

I realise now 'should' have enabled USB support as per http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=117256

But alas I had not, is there any other way I can get into the black box, through usb, ftp, ssh, esp etc

Or is the only option I have to reflash, loose all my customizations and learn to back stuff up in future.

thanks

Just use SSH. Then run
Code:
apt-get remove org.tomcool.xbmc-booter
Set Up
Raspberry Pi running Raspbmc - XBMC 12.2
40" Samsung ES6800 LED Smart 3D 1080P TV
Onkyo HTS3405 5.1 DD True HD and DTS-HD Surround Sound
ReadyNAS Duo with 4TB (2 x 2TB X-RAID) Western Digital Caviar Green using NFS

Thanks Dean,

But because it is in a boot loop I can't connect to it via ssh or ftp, so unless there is some kind of safe mode or usb access I think i'm stuffed...time to reflash.

Oh right. Nah you won't be able to use ssh if it doesn't boot properly. Restore/jailbreak is your only bet probably.
