Back at Win7 formated my ssd about 10times this weekend...

Right now I think I got it working with Catalyst 11.12 (or the latest 11 driver) just install only Videodriver, Audiodriver and Control Center and it should work.

This was a problem with older Catalyst drivers and was fixed a long time ago but it looks like its back in the 12.X driver.

I didnt try every 12 driver because I just dont care maybe someone wants to try it and report back which is the latest working one.

FWIW I got up off my ass and loaded the full 11.12 Catalyst package this morning. After numerous wake from sleep the HDMI issue is gone!

Thanks!

I don't get why AMD isn't offering a 'Force Detect' option for HDMI video or audio. They had optical 'Force Detect' for composite video output for cases where the card failed to recognise a composite device hooked up for it. ...Ya know, back when cards had Composite/S-Video outputs. :X

Jumping back in.. 11.12 didn't fix it every time.

Today I see AMD has a 12.6 Beta driver out.

One of the fixes is

"Disabled HDMI audio when the connected HDTV is powered Off/On."

I'm going to give them a go this morning.

I have had the same problem. This problem is super annoying and disrupts the "ease of use" of the HTPC overall.

Can't believe that I haven't seen more posts about this.

Excited to try the fix posted above. (Edit: unfortunately, only for 7900 and 7800. Hopefully a fix for the 6550 or A8-3850 comes out soon.)

Thanks & rep'd.

See if your AVR has a pass through option in the setting and turn it on

I think we have a winrar!

Since installing the 12.6 Beta drivers yesterday I haven't had a single audio problem!

Once again I'm running a MSI E350IA-E45 and a Radeon 6450 under Windows 7 and bitstreaming HD.

I can confirm that the "Disabled HDMI audio when the connected HDTV is powered Off/On." still exists in 12.7 beta and is NOT fixed for HD 6450.

This is quite annoying as it has stopped me from upgrading for the past 6 months.

Are you sure the hdmi audio fix is only for 7900 and 7800 cards? The driver is for all cards as far as i can tell?

Cheers!

Yes, I tried 12.6 beta as well with the same problem. The audio device is disconnected after I turn on and off the tv.
I reported it to AMD via the bug report survey and in this thread. http://devgurus.amd.com/message/1282216

I had the same problem with 12.xx drivers for a HD 6450 as well.

I ended up rolling it back to an 11.10 driver and have had no problems since. Not going to upgrade the driver at all now. It was way too much of a hassle to finally get it working correctly.

11.10 was always stable for me..... I moved now to the 12.6 stable version but I can not confirm on the audio issue. I have no receiver.... but if I change the channel to my other systems and come back to the HTPC I still have audio.

I remember I had this issue with a 10.xxx driver with out a receiver it will loose sound if I changed the channel but 11.10 fixed it.

+1.....I preferred my GT430 over HD6450 in the theater room......

>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
