I followed the instructions here (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=127369) for installing Eden for ATV2 on iOS5.1. Near the "apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2" step of the installation process, my TV screen went black and flashed "NO SIGNAL." I completed the installation steps, but my TV screen remained black. Eventually, my SSH connection froze and then timed out, and the iTunes logo & USB cable graphic popped up on the screen.
I tried a tethered reboot of the ATV, but I again got "NO SIGNAL" on my TV. I was still able to log in via SSH for a couple minutes before it again timed out and I got the iTunes logo & USB graphic on my TV screen again.
Platform: ATV2
Version: ATV2-Eden-iOS5.1 compatible take3
Apple TV Software: 5.0.1 (4224)
Install-method: apt-get method described here http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=127369
Edit: clarified order of events during installation process
Edit: corrected Apple TV software version number
AppleTV 2 (black) Installed Eden for iOS5.1, now I just get "No Signal" on TV

The ATV has probably re-booted and you need to do a tethered restart.
I use 5.1 on my ATV2 with XBMC and it works fine. Guide for MySQL database using Synology NAS http://quixventure.com/2011/12/configure...-for-xbmc/ Silent AppleTV with Crystalbuntu http://quixventure.com/2011/12/crystalbu...roduction/ |

Maybe the 5.1.1 jailbreak from seas0npass is wonky? Do you have the power cable plugged in so that its sitting tight?

One correction, the Apple TV Software version is 5.0.1 (4224).
Ozymandyaz, I did the tethered restart, but when I plug in my HDMI cable, I just get a "No Signal" on my TV. I started from scratch, reloaded the jailbroken firmware using seas0npass. The jailbroken-only Apple TV seems to work OK, but when I went through the XBMC installation steps, the screen blacked out half way through again. Do I need to have the HDMI cable disconnected when installing xbmc, or should it not make any difference? |

The ATV should be good.. Installing XBMC should not affect the HDMI connections... Maybe you have a strange TV? So I wiped my ATV, starting from scratch for the 3rd time, and it worked. Not sure what I was doing wrong the first times, but it's working great. Thanks for the suggestions.

I spent 2 days wiping/jailbreaking
my ATV2 5.0.2 several times. However, whenever I tried to install the xbmc, the TV didnt recognized the AppleTV HDMI, or the ATV hang at apple logo. Any help? Thanks a lot.

I have upgraded four of mine with the latest seasonpass and one of them did that, I redid it again and it worked.
I will add that all of them took a very long time to boot first, I left for a few minutes (seems like a long time since normally you only see the apple logo for a few seconds) HTH -Mike |
