Installing Eden over pre-Eden
#1
I installed Eden beta over an existing pre-Eden.

Does this install utilize any pre-existing files are is it effectively a fresh install.

I ask because I'm getting player problems which didn't occur in pre-Eden.

Has the player been updated also?

I did the same and had no issues... just installed the Beta over Pre-Eden. Couldn't tell you if there has been tweaks to the player but there was a lot of code changes between Dec 11 and the 24th.

What's the issue...?

It's complicated! It's about severe audio desync issues ...

Here's the bug ticket http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/12433#comment:1

A major problem is that the error is random. It works sometimes but mainly doesn't (since about 2 weeks ago)

I just rolled back to a November nightly - still getting desync issues.

No further forward in tracking this down.

I would try a clean install. Uninstall XBMC then delete C:\Program Files\XBMC or C:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC if you use 64 bit Windows. Rename your profile folder to remove all user settings and add-ons. Press Windows-R and in the Run dialog type:

"%APPDATA%"

(including the quotes) and click OK and an Explorer window will open. The profile folder is called XBMC. Rename it to something else. You can delete it, but note that this will delete your library, so I'd just rename it for now. Once you've deleted the XBMC folders from Program Files and %APPDATA% you have completely removed all traces of XBMC!

Now install the beta 1 and see if you still have the sync issues.
