iPad network speed

Does the speed of your home network effect playing videos? I just jail broke the ipad2 today using the new method for 5.1 and I installed xbmc but I'm noticing buffering, I have a very poor Internet speed and I'm wondering if that is causing poor playback. I'm just using it for fun but I'm curious to know if I were on a faster connection if it would work better. I live out in the sticks and I can't use xbmc to its full potential with apps, I have mad envy for you high speed folks. Anyways, I'm just wondering how playback is on a faster network.

It depends if you are streaming something online with an add on or watching something on your home network. I have BT's 80mb line and can stream 720p and 5.1 versions of video online without a problem. Can also throw 1080P across my Internet wifi from my NAS and it streams fine.
Set Up
Raspberry Pi running Raspbmc - XBMC 12.2
40" Samsung ES6800 LED Smart 3D 1080P TV
Onkyo HTS3405 5.1 DD True HD and DTS-HD Surround Sound
ReadyNAS Duo with 4TB (2 x 2TB X-RAID) Western Digital Caviar Green using NFS
