I have some movies in my collection that I created in Quicktime. These were created by stitching together WMVs / MP4s on Quicktime 7 Pro and saving them as a joined .mov file.
Unfortunately SOME of them (not all), will not play at all in XBMC. They work fine in Quicktime and other movies I have created work in XBMC but these just won't play.
Often I will select them and the small load icon will pop up, but the video fails to load. If I try again then I get nothing.
Just wondering what the most likely cause of that would be - and if there's any remedies to it?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Apologies if this is a really simple problem!
Quicktime moves will not play

See if you can get us a debug log of when you play one of those problematic mov files. If you can upload a small sample mov that has the same issue, that might help as well.
You can make easy links to the XBMC wiki using double brackets around words: [[debug log]] = debug log, [[Add-on:YouTube]] = Add-on:YouTube, [[Adding videos to the library]] = Adding videos to the library, [[userdata]] = userdata, etc

Can't help you without a debug log. The link explains how to get it from XBMC.

I'm having the same issue. See link below for a log of a QuickTime file playing correctly and then exited manually followed by a QuickTime file that does not play correctly (audio but no video) and then exits on it's own after 'Working...' for sometime.
http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=5086 (normal) The file that plays correctly is named "alphabeta_big.mov" while the file the does not play is named "baldy_big.mov". Below is a log of the same sequence of events but with debugging enabled. http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=5088 (debug) If needed, I can also upload an example of a problematic .mov file. I'm using XBMC 11.0 on a ATV2 5.0

Well not much to see. Seems like for the badone the pullup correction goes wonky. And the other difference is that the working is "Encoded with cleaner" and the non working is encoded with "quicktime".
Do you have any sync options enabled? (sync video to audio or the like)? If so/not - try to play with those settings. Tried enabling that and choosing each of the 3 possible options but none made a difference. You mention the pullup correction goes wonky (dunno what this is). Could this have anything to do with the video not displaying? |

I have no refresh rate adaption option under Settings>Video>Playback
Also, the "encoded by" metadata also seems irrelevant as I have other videos encoded by 'cleaner' which do not work. Of the QuickTime vids I have, only about 1/3rd work. |
