Win Universal Remote with XBMC?
#1
I bought this Universal remote: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/S...No=5023040

Is there like, an IR receiver thing I can buy that will let me use it with my HTPC? I got all excited when I found it as it's the first decent looking bluetooth/IR remote I've found that actually came out and failed to see if it was PC compatible.

I have a little IR receiver that cake with this Nyko Bluwave I was given a while back, but I have a feeling that wouldn't work.

Thanks,
Pawn

For the IR part flirc.would be a good.fit (flirc.TV) - simple to use and works great

That's exactly what I'm looking for! Unfortunately they are out of stock and aren't being shipped until July Sad

Does the remote have emulation for a Microsoft MCE keyboard or MCE remote? If so look for a Microsoft or HP IR receiver on Amazon or ebay. If not I would look for an ORtek VRC-1100 (see http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Remote_Contr...s#VRC-1100) on ebay. This should be pretty cheap and you can learn the IR signals from the ORtek handset. Note that the ORtek is usually rebadged and not sold under the ORtek name so if you're looking for one on ebay go by the picture.

I agree that the FLIRC is the best option when they become available. I have a FLIRC receiver and it's fantastic :-)

Thanks for the suggestions. I preordered a FLIRC since it seems to be the best option. got $5 off with the preorder coupon code thing that was already in that input field so that was nice Smile What wasn't nice was the $13 shipping (We'll say $8 with the $5 off Tongue)

Oh well, if you want quality you gotta pay for it. I'll just survive by using the android app until that arrives.

This may help you justify the price:

Jason (the CEO, Dev, distribution, QC, support and CTO) is looking into other shipping options - so he can focus on developing etc and also the price will hopefully go down.

If you have any questions about Flirc please feel free to post on the forums there (forum.flirc.TV) - I'm Chris! On those forums.

[EDIT] Please do post on the forums if your remote does work (it should) so we can definitely say it works for future users. Thanks!
