I have a Q6700 quad core processor, 6gb of ram, an Nvidia 550Ti graphics card and I just bought a 600w OCZ ModXStream power supply and I am still having problems with lag when minimizing and maximizing widows when XBMC is running. Why does XBMC use sooo much resources? Even with this set-up movie are jerky and skip and XBMC is the only app open.

@thothom - XBMC is meant to run fullscreen - for best performance you should be disabling "Use a fullscreen window instead of true fullscreen".
System: XBMC HTPC with HDMI WASAPI & AudioEngine - Denon  AVR-3808CI  - Denon DVD-5900 Universal Player  - Denon DCM-27 CD-Changer
- Sony BDP-S580 Blu-Ray  - X-Box 360  - Android tablet wireless remote - 7.1 Streem/Axiom/Velodyne Surround System
If I have been able to help feel free to add to my reputation +/- below - thanks!

That is how I have it set.

Sorry, I was wrong, but having it set like that, the window that xbm is minimizes when I interact with any other window I have open.

Correct - it is meant to me a dedicated media center, not run with other programs.

That's alright if your watching movies etc. but listening to music IMO the xbmc window should stay up but that's just me. What ever the update schedule is maybe you could put something in there that when you switch to music xbmc should automagically switch to "Use a fullscreen window", just a suggestion.
