Hi all. Please can I get some basic help. I'm new to the xbmc thing. I just got a atv 2. What I would like to know are what are add ons, scrapers and anything else I might find handy. Thanks for any reply

Your best bet is to help yourself by looking through the addon forum and the scraper threads that are in the addon forum, mainly the addon forum as there are many different types of addons.
Scrapers are what look through your library and scrape data from outside sources based on your movie/tv name/episode/artist/album and retrieve the data and add it to the database.
