The ONLY thing keeping me from making my dedicated "media" PC a dedicated *XBMC* PC is my inability so far to get my speaker setup to work correctly.
My onboard audio has numerous analog speaker output jacks, which I have connected to an older Kenwood surround sound receiver which doesn't support digital (coax or optical) audio input. Currently, I just have two front speakers and two rear speakers. I currently use Media Player Classic's speaker remap option to remap channels appropriately. For example, for 5-channel sound I map as follows:
Front Left: gets assigned Front Left, Center, and Subwoofer channels (my front speakers are full-range with built in sub)
Front Right: Front Right, Center, and Sub
Rear Left: Rear Left
Rear Right: Rear Right
Soon, I will be adding a true center speaker, so that I can properly route the center channel to my actual center speaker, but I don't have one yet.
Also, for audio with just stereo sound (standard 2 channel), especially music, I want to double up for a quad stereo effect:
Front Left: Left
Front Right: Right
Rear Left: Left
Rear Right: Right
Does anyone have any suggestions or a pointer to some documentation online?
Thanks!
