24p: picture size 720p smaller than 1080p
#1
Hi,

in normal view modus all movies 1080p, 720p, 480p have the same
picture output size; fits on all ends/sides on the screen.

If I swith in the video setting to "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" in order to come
to 24p output it works pretty good for 1080p material.
But, this setting causes for 720p/480p material a smaller picture output.
e.g.: if I look movies via my beamer I miss on all sides of the picture
at least 10-15cm!
I recognize by intensive looking on the picture, that there are
black borders on all sides. So the output to flatscreen/beamer is on the end
on the sames size as with 1080p material.
XBMC resizes obvouisly the movie picture it selves to a smaller picture.
If I turn of the modus "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" all movies
have the same output size.

How I can solve that?

Are you running an ATI Card by any chance, if so chances are that your overscan settings need to be set for each refresh rate you use

Go to HDTV support in CCC
Desktop Properties
Select 1080p24 standard ( 1920 x 1080 @ 24Hz ) and "apply"
Go to Scale Option in CCC and put overscan to 0% and save

Carry this out for all refresh rates you are going to use, remembering to apply and save each one.

so...I worked on that: I found out, it did that for 1080 24p in the past...
now I also tried add the 720p...same way in worklfow as you described...
both I stored...
tested with XBMC...no success...so I guess again that XBMC causes
with some settings the problem, that 720p results in a smaller picture
output...again I recognized also with the (new) setting, that there are
black borders instead full movie picture

SOLVED:

After hours of experimenting with different settings...now it works since 5 minutes.
However: I have to set up in the Cataylst settings: 1080p 60Hz...
the interesting thing: this settings I tried also before..without solving my problem...but now
it works!
