I am using the MediaGate remote with the dongle that comes with the Rosewill remote.... and using this software http://xbmccustomregis.sourceforge.net/

APU: AMD A6-3500
Mobo: ASRock A75M-ITX

Yes it turns on the PC from cold (power button on remote)... Big Grin

I noticed if the PC looses power then it will not turn on the first try you have to manual turn it on and then when off it will work again... (it's like the dongle looses memory)
Beer, thanks for popping in and providing us with some clarity. I was just curious whether your remote (the Mediagate Remote you are using) also turns the HTPC off all the way (to S5 state) or does it simply put it to sleep? I can turn my HTPC on (using the same board as you, but with the ASRock dongle), but my remote only has a moon for a power button, which only puts my machine to sleep. I am trying to figure out a way to shut it down all the way each time I hit the power button on my Harmony.

The custom software http://xbmccustomregis.sourceforge.net/ overwrites what all the buttons do. So for me if I press the power button to turn it off then the EXIT menu pops up on XBMC EXIT-POWER DOWN SYSTEM--ETC.... so I choose power down system and it turns off the htpc....(no sleep)

Now with out the custom software YES the power button will put the system to sleep....

If you take a look here you will see the MOON button to be the shutdown menu...
http://xbmccustomregis.sourceforge.net/remapping.html

So what you need to do if you are not using this software you need to manual set the MOON button to give you the shutdown menu. I believe you will have to modify your Keyboard.xml or something... i am not sure.

When using this custom software even the big green button with windows can be used. It can Launch XBMC, refocus and maximize it if minimized. Now it can take you to Home screen when pressed from any XBMC view.

That is a huge help, thanks so much! One more question and I promise to stop (at least for a while). I set up my Harmony One to emulate an MCE Keyboard, and most of the commands work fine. If I install this custom software, is it going to change the way the Harmony works with XBMC?

I am using an ASRock FM2A75 PRO4 ATX FM2 A75, I purhcased this remote after the rosewill one died quickly on me, it sends keyboard presses.

http://www.amazon.com/Windows-Control-In...B00224ZDFY

Now unless i was hallucinating when i first got this the first thing i tried since it sends keyboard presses is to wake from s5. Since I had wake from S5 by usb keyboard or mouse enabled in the bios, i am pretty sure this remote worked the one time i tried it.

Recently had to put bios back to defaults due to another issue, and now i cant get it to turn on from s5 anymore. I plugged my plain old usb keyboard into my htpc, and it turns on from s5 fine.

SO either i imagined i did this, or maybe someone knows of a reason this usb IR remote is no longer waking from s5. My keyboard can wake from S5, i was doing it moments ago, and this just sends keyboard presses, but i can no longer seem to get this remote to do it.

So either i imagined it, or i need to do something else in the bios?

I've been in contact with Rosewill to buy an iR receiver and they were willing to help me if I had an NewEgg account. I told them that my receiver for my RRC-126 was broke. NewEgg only accept customers from USA, Canada and China and I live in Sweden, Europe. I've found a seller on eBay that shipped everywhere, the only problem was that the shipping cost was like three times the price of the unit, so it would cost me close to $100...

Could someone help me get my hands on the Rosewill IR605/A receiver? I'll pay You for your effort...

Yes it does. I use this with my Harmony One and IMO it works a LOT better than the stock programing.

XBMC specs: Intel G860 3Ghz - HD 6450 - 4gb RAM - Crucial M4 64Gb SSD - Foxconn RM2-H2 barebones - W7 64bit - XBMC Frodo - Antec Mult-Station Basic

Home Theater - Pioneer 50in Kuro - Denon 1609 - Ascend Acoustics speakers - Maelstrom 18in sealed sub 7cu ft - Behringer EP2500

UNraid Server – Sempron 145 – ASRock 880GM-LE – Antec HCG-400M ps - 2Gb RAM

have a look at http://www.simerec or http://rfpcremote.com They both offer dedicated remote on/off switch. having a remote power switch gives you more choices of input devices.

a little bit of confusion here, does the usb plug need to be on cir/usb ?
Does the dongle need to be in the cir/usb port or any usb port?
I have a75m itx , Rosewill dongle , power on worked once and then didnt next time, I try to install drivers an I get 'No Cir device Detected'
