Thumbnails - Eden to Nightly Build (tbn to jpg)
#1
Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade my version of Eden to the latest nightly build (to get the the new AE Audio) to work. However, I am experiencing the following issues:

1) The nightly build is not reading any of my existing .tbn files. With Eden, all thumbnails for my movies were stored in "userdata\Thumbnails\Video\1,2,3..." as tbn files.
2) The nightly build only seems to update the thumbnails when I actually scroll to that specific movie.
3) The nightly build is storing all the thumbnails as JPG files is "userdata\Thumbnails\1,2,3...", again, ignoring the existing tbn files completely.
4) The biggest problem - While scrolling through over 300 movies, it seems that there is considerable lag while scrolling. Additionally, sometimes I have to just stop, to wait for certain thumbnails to load. I went back to Eden, and noticed not a single bit of lag or slowdown.

Why has the system been changed in the nightly build, if the system in Eden worked flawlessly? Is there something I am missing? Is there anything I can do to have the newer AE audio, yet have smooth scrolling between movie thumbnails?

Thanks in advance for the help!

The video thumbs have moved to the texture cache, thus are cached in a different way. XBMC then needs to re-cache everything, thus everything is by design. There's several threads already on this - take a nosy through the forums.

Once they're all re-cached it'll be nice and snappy again. If you want to speed up the process, rescan your shares (set content to none, ok, clear out the db, set content back to movies/shows, rescan).

Cheers,
Jonathan

Hi,
Thanks a ton for the reply.
I did search for "nightly build lag" and "tbn to jpg", but couldn't find anything specific that addressed this issue directly. I did see a thread with a discussion about ms, but nothing mentioned of the tbn files, so wasn't sure if that was the right thing.
Thanks for clearing it up!
