[RELEASE] Xbmc Hockey Streams Plugin
#1
Rainbow
Hi All,

Just making it heard (shameless self promotion) that I got fed up of the existing Hockey Streams plugin breaking in XBMC (not XBMC's fault).

So I decided to roll my own which I will hopefully keep up-to-date for both personal and public usage.

So anybody that wants to consume http://www.hockeystreams.com/ through XBMC or is having issues with the existing plugin feel free to try out my implementation which has been written from scratch for XBMC eden release.

I was always wondering about hockey streams (as I am a huge hockey fan) ... since the NHL offers Gamecenter broadband and the vault.. how can the hockeystreams.com offering be legal? do they really think calling the subscription fees donations makes it legal.. is it really safe to donate?

I am not affiliated with hockeystreams or support them and as far as the legality of the service they offer goes I am unsure. The plugin was developed using a third parties account and for all intents and purposes works. The third party has had no problem with their account in all the time being subscribed. I can't really offer any more information with regards to accounts @ hockeystreams and any information about them should be requested from them.

I don't really want this thread to turn into the pros and cons of their service suffice to say the plugin works.

Regards

Really that's down to who is paying for it.

I have never experienced issues buffering but this is usually down to your connection speed. Quality wise flash streams (not supported by xbmc are720p)
Whilst wmv streams are standard definition and are the only type of stream supported currently (until xbmc supports dynamic http streaming)

Yes

I believe $99 per annum. But you can refer to their website www.hockeystreams.com

No problem and thanks for the support.

Just a note to say that those users who are brave enough to use frodo release v12 of xbmc, they will have the ability to play the higher quality istreams through the hockeystreams addon.

Fantastic work! Thank you!

XBMC doesn´t support dynamic flash streaming, so most of 3200 kbps HS streams won´t work, right?
