Hi,
if you watch a movie, please press longer the Menu-button. Then choose the menue "videosettings" and proof the third item Videoscale Settings = bilinear <--- (this is the right setting)
Maybe this is the reason why your video and audio stutters

Thanks for the response.
I've checked this and it is already set on this setting..? I have also looked at the codec info using the following command: Code: xbmc-send --action="codecinfo"The file was a 1080p mkv. I see that I get "dc:cdh-h264". So presuming the Crystalcard is working... The Mb/s is around 10 and my CPU fluctuates in and around the 50% mark. Where the stuttering occurs, I did notice the "vq" value hitting 100%. It's usually around the 96/97% mark... Could it be something to do with this? At the exact time the stutter occured, the log file read: Code: 20:34:06 T:2805984144 DEBUG: CDVDPlayerAudio:: Discontinuity - was:773352419.112073, should be:773342410.944640, error:-10008.167434My sound setting are: •Audio output: HDMI •Setup speaker configuration: 2.0 •Boost volume on downmix: unchecked •Audio output device - custom •custom audio device - plughw:0,3 •passthrough output device - custom •custom passthrough device - plughw:0,3

Hi Azaman,
I had the same issue (CPU-LOad 100%) und that was my solution :-) If <useddsfanart>true</useddsfanart> exists in the file advancedsettings, then your ATV will generate DDS versions of the covers, fanart... of your movies, the CPU usage could be due this generation that can be CPU intensive in a P4 1GHz... Look in this .xml file in the /root/.xbmc/ folder. <advancedsettings> <videolibrary> <useddsfanart>true</useddsfanart> <!-- For faster Fanart when Browsing --> change it to false or delete this entry and the CPU Load never increase to 100 % </videolibrary> </advancedsettings> ATV 3.0.2 ChrystalHD 70015 Launcher 3.2.5 XBMC 11.0-PVR Broadcom Installer r174 (3.8.0) QNAP TS-509 Pro Turbo NAS - 3.7.1 Build 0615 |

Progress seems to be made with this in regards to the OpenElec build where the same issue is apparent. It's looks like it may be an XBMC thing?

Yes its a xbmc issue if the ATV are generating DDS versions from the covers and fanart. You can fix it when you edit the advancedsettings. It's looks like it may be an XBMC thing? So as per your first quoted post, as you suggesting this will help resolve the issue? Just wondering if changing this setting in the actual file has any impact during playback? It's been stated on the OpenElec forum to try this too (do you think this is the same as what you've kindly suggested?): Code: <advancedsettings> |

I read that 'this looks to be related to a switch from XBMC's internal ffmpeg to external ffmpeg'; so disabling dds fanart, does that change the way video is played back or is something else going on in the background that contributes inadvertently to the playback stuttering?
