Linux XBMCunbuntu quick help wanted

New here- lets hope this is the right place for this.

I've got a nano ITX motherboard running and AMD fusion E-350 processor (1.6GHz dual core, bobcat cores, 6310 GPU integrated) and I'm looking to see how far I can stretch the power. After trying XBMC on an original Xbox, I saw that to conserve the GPU/CPU for the app running, XBMC shut itself down and ran the app.

I like that idea- would there be a simple way to port that (or activate it) in the latest release of XBMCubuntu (11.XX, right?)?

Also wondering if there's a good, simple way to modify the skin with little knowledge of coding. I'd like it to match the aesthetics of my case and possibly replace the XBMC logo on the bottom with the name of my project. For good measure the XBMC logo would be moved to the corner.

Thanks! If I'm posting in the wrong section, please do move it.
