I create some clearart and logos for fanart.tv and I often want to test a given clearart. Once XBMC has a clearart, it is very difficult to change it.
I know the XBMC team is working on something to correct this but in the meantime, when you want to change the clearart for a given series, locate and trash the current clearart in one of the folders in Thumbnails(not Video) folder in Userdata. Go to the series and start playing an episode, XBMC will create a video thumbnail and use that in conjunction with ronie's movie-frame.png. Locate this new png in the Video folder of Thumbnails, trash it and replace it with the disired clearart but change the extension to .tbn.
The end result is a little different than what we are used to but it is rather pleasant:
