Migrate from MCE using My Movies metadata ?

Hello.

I am a new XBMC user, I've just installed Eden on to a Windows PC as a test, but plan to run on a Linux distribution later maybe OpenElec or something?

Anyway's all my movies are on my Windows Home Server V1 which has My Movies for WHS installed.

First question how do I switch XBMC Videos in to Library mode as I am in file mode at the moment. I am seeing the movie covers and backdrops OK however in file mode.

From reading the information on the My Movies.dk site there appears to be two options for using My Movies back-end / metadata with XBMC.

1. If you are using My Movies / Collection Management you can go in to Collection Management options and under metadata turn on .NFO files for XBMC.

2. If you are not using My Movies / Collection Management you can purchase the My Movies XBMC Scapper. The scraper is described as 'The scraper is created for users who do not want other programs than XBMC itself to maintain the meta-data"

As I am already using My Movies / Collection Management option 1 would seem to be the way to go.

However reading around on Google a little it sounds like it might be possible to setup XBMC to directly read the mymovies.xml files? So I don't need to get My Movies to generate these NFO files?

For example this is from your WIKI here

Importing library information from "My Movies" media management software

My Movies (www.mymovies.name) is an online database for profiling DVD-Video movies. My Movies saves an XML file and a poster cover image which with this patch will get scanned by XBMC in the same way as XBMC's own XML formatted NFO files are scanned/scraped.
XBMC has the ability to get the import movie library information from "My Movies" via the mymovies.xml files that it generates, these mymovies.xml are checked after the movie.nfo file.

What patch is it referring to?

Ideally I'd like to not mess with my existing My Movies SQL database and metadata files if I can avoid it.

I also have some TV Series setup in the My Movies system, can XBMC handle and display these correctly as My Movies in MCE does?

Also another question if I want multiple XBMC clients around the house can I setup central caches for thumbnails and such like on the WHS server somehow.

Any other tips for newbies welcome! Big Grin

Many thanks in advance
