Latest nightly on new ipad not filling screen
#1
Hi all, i am a long time atv2 xbmc user, so congrats to all the team on such an awesome job.

I am sure that i have screwed something up here, i just got the latest ipad and installed xbmc, the version on cydia looked fine to me, but i wanted the latest nightly, so i installed that.

Now when i got into XBMC it isnt filling the screen, only taking up a small piece of the top left corner, its all there its just tiny!

What have i messed up? i know its to do with the new ipad res but i cant fix itHuh

delete your guisettings.xml (see ios faq) and try again. Somehow your xbmc tries to switch to 720p. Strange enough the supported resolutions are not printed out in your log.

@davilla something seems wrong with that build. The printout:

CLog::Log(LOGDEBUG,"Current resolution Screen: %i with %i x %i",screenIdx, *w, *h);

in WinSystemIOS.mm is missing in that log. This is only possible if void CWinSystemIOS::UpdateResolutions() is not called. But it works here with current mainline.

Try the next nightly please. And if it doesn't work please post a debug log again.

I have exactly the same problem. What is the best advice please for a novice user? should I ignore the nightly build and re-install the cydia version for the time being?

same issue with latest nightly:

http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/1035920/

The stock version on cydia works fine.

Something maybe of interest is that in the video output screen on the nightly where you can pick whether its windowed or not, it shows ?0?

And the res is shown as 1280*720 but icant change

All in all thats really strange ... my ipod touch 4g behaves totally different and produces a correct debug log with the same nightly. I wonder whats wrong here. Not aware of any difference between ipod and ipad3. Could somebody of you ipad3 owners pinpoint the exact nightly when it stopped working?

My guess based on other changes in the tree:

http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/darwin...er-ios.deb <- works

http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/darwin...er-ios.deb <- doesn't work

could somebody test these 2?

A syslog might be interesting too.

I have tried the last five nightly versions - including the latest - and I am still getting the unusable small window top left. I am using the third generation iPad with the latest iOS 5.1.1. I can't pinpoint exactly when this happened, as I am new to XBMC and only installed it yesterday. The Cydia version worked fine (although I was getting some problems with freezing, so I was advised by a mate to use the nightly version).

It isn't something in any of the last five builds. I suspect this may be something unique to the iPad 3, and possibly something else under the bonnet.

I will test the two in your link above and report back.

OK - tried both. Exactly the same. Sad

Please go back to the oldest nightly you can get (may 31th). We need to track down which nightly was still good.

I have reinstalled the Cydia, stable version which is working fine. However, I shall do as you suggest.

OK - exactly the same with May 31st. Just a small window top left.

There must have been dozens of successful installations since then, which leads me to believe that it's something which cyrusir and I have done to our iPads ...

I am going to reinstall the Cydia, stable, version now.
