I have this remote here:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.asp...%29&Page=2

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on my HTPC. My question is, the Windows icon button on the remote opens up WMC on my HTPC, but I want it to open XBMC....how do I accomplish this?

If your remote uses the eHome driver you can configure the green button to do anything you want. See http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows for how to check.

If the remote is not using an eHome driver you'll need some helper software like AutoHotKey.

Thanks, I believe it used the ehome driver...
Nope, no matter what I do, pressing the green button results in WMC opening and NOT XBMC. Sad

If it uses the eHome driver use the MCERemote add-on to configure the remote. This will change the green button to send a ctrl-alt-W keypress. You can make this the HotKey for the XBMC Start Menu icon, so pressing the green button will start XBMC.

Hey man, thanks....got half-way there. The green button no longer opens MCE....but now it does NOTHING, LOL. So how do I map ctrl-alt-W to open whatever .exe I want, in this case XBMC?

Open the Start menu then the XBMC folder and right click the XBMC shortcut then left click on Properties. This will open a dialog titled "XBMC Properties". In this dialog select the "Shortut" tab and click on the field labelled "Shortcut key" so you see the cursor flashing in this field. Now press the Start button on your remote and you should see this field fill in with ctrl-shift-W or whatever your Start button is sending. Click OK to close the dialog and save the changes. Now pressing the Start button on the remote should open XBMC.
