Thanks you so much, Karlson2k!

Any chance of a patched exe from you while we're waiting for a merge?

I tried the patched setup file from karlson and added the joystick argument to advancedsettings.xml in the userdata folder but it seems not to work for me. Can anybody confirm if this is working or not

you can find it in the userdata folder

Windows XP: Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\Application Data\XBMC\userdata\
Vista/Windows 7: Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata\

but advancedsettings doesnt exist by default, so in case theres no such file, you have to create it manually

for more info, see: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Adv...ttings.xml

Success! :-)

Apparently the xml tags are case sensitive, so I changed the advancedsettings entry to lower case only:

Code:
<advancedsettings>
    <usejoystick>false</usejoystick>

    (... lots of other stuff in my advancedsettings.xml ...)

</advancedsettings>

You might want to update the bug/patch description with this, I suppose.

Best regards and a bunch of thanks,

now it works for me too Smile

but i realized that you also have to mesh every subargument (like <usejoystick>) with four spaces. didnt know that before.

Thanks durniplot for suggestions and karlson for creating the patch

You can use any number of spaces or tabs for indentation.

I don't think you really have to, but it gets a lot easier to read if you do, as you put more stuff in your advancedsettings file.

Please post the contents of your advancedsettings.xml file and the xbmc logfile so we can have a look.

Until now, the authors believe that it's unnecessary.

If you quote me than do it right please. I just said that I don't like it in the current state nor want to introduce an advanced setting but I'm open for suggestions.
If we would work around every bug introduced by third party (be it imon or M$) the code would be even worse than now (not that I think this would be of interest for any user which isn't a dev).
