So, on particular videos that worked fine in Dharma, I get Video freezing followed immediately by audio dropout, video skipping, audio return, then resync video and audio. On one machine this takes about .5 seconds, so it's mostly ignorable (?), but on another machine this takes about 5 seconds, which is VERY distracting.

Both machines are running Eden from official download (Windows), or PPA for Ubuntu.

Linux (the bad delay, about 5 seconds)
Ubuntu 10.04 x64, updated two days ago
XBMC 11.0 Git: Unknown, Compiled Mar 24 2012
Core 2 Duo, 2.0 GB RAM
Pastebin

Windows (.5 sec delay, really only noticeable as audio dropout)
Win 7 Ultimate x64, updated about 4 days ago
XBMC 11.0 Git: Unknown, Official Download
Core 2 Duo, 4.0 GB RAM
I don't have an XBMC.log, but I rather expect whatever the issue is is the same, just a more powerful machine to push through it.

The videos in question always have the error, it's always at the same time, and they play fine through VLC/WMP. Any ideas?

try playing the file locally instead of over smb and see if the problem persists.

turn on debug logging and post a log of the local file playback.
