Dumb Question: Integrated vs Standalone device?

I was having a discussion with my friend regarding XBMC and wanted to pose this question to the board for your feedback. If you were to design a device for XBMC, would you design it as a standalone device (like OpenElec) or as a integrated feature within a product (like a Smart TV, Apple TV or Google TV)? Just curious as to what you think. Thanks.

If you are a start-up company then aim for a stand-alone HD media player / streamer, marketed same as Popcorn Hour, PopBox, and Dune HD

or same as Slingbox and Dreambox set-top boxes if include one or two TV-tuner modules and base software on the XBMC-PVR branch Smile

Those are what I see as the two biggest market for XBMC, so the lowest hanging fruit if you looking to sell loads of devices.

Keep the box cheap and begin by competing with Popcorn Hour, Dune, WD TV, Roku, Apple TV, and maybe even D-Link's Boxee Box Wink

Target audience would be those too intimidated to put together an HTPC themselves, and a box that we geeks recommends to friends / family

Why? Personally I think it would be too expensive for a smaller company to make, sell, and ship cheap televisions with integrated XBMC Rolleyes
