No watched flag in wall view?

I for the life of me cant get the watched flag to appear on my main TV shows or movies pages. I have enabled the watched flag in settings, and in my TV shows when I go into the actual show for season or episode views it shows the watched flag but not in the main TV Shows/Movies categories regardless of view type. If I select Hide watched shows it hides them but other than that I have no quick easy way of telling what has or hasn't been watched. Am I missing something?
