I have an ATV 2 running 4.1.1
I understand that upgrading past 4.3 would not be good, but I'm not having much luck finding a way to upgrade without going to current.
If somebody could point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.
I already have root on the ATV 2
Or should I just leave it on 4.1.1 ?

your last question tells me that you don't know any reason for updating. With that as an assumption i would say "never change a running system".

its not running "perfectly".
I hadn't used it since I managed to get an ATV1, as the video quality was better on my display (720p plasma) using the ATV1 than the ATV2 (this was some time ago), however I upgraded it to Eden yesterday and have experienced some "crashes" where it goes back to the Apple display as per http://wiki.xbmc.org/images/thumb/6/6b/A...ware_4.jpg and wondwered if an upgrade to 4.3 might be an idea. the crashes have happened when scanning my network shares I should have put more information in the original question, apologies, it was late, I was tired... |

Throw up a debug log and we can tell you if it's something an update would help with (doubtful, but you never know): iOS XBMC.log
You can make easy links to the XBMC wiki using double brackets around words: [[debug log]] = debug log, [[Add-on:YouTube]] = Add-on:YouTube, [[Adding videos to the library]] = Adding videos to the library, [[userdata]] = userdata, etc

Ned just fyi ... its the b0rked 11.0-3 crash we have here.
Automaton if you want to try you can maybe fix it by doing the following: Try exchanging the file /Applications/XBMC.frappliance/Frameworks/libsmbclient.dylib.0 with that one from here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30371861/libsmbclient.dylib.0 Then restart your ATV2 and report back if the crash is still there. Apologies for the delay.
I've renamed the existing as .old, copied the new file in place (scp), rebooted, cleaned the library, and scanned for new content with no errors :-) Many thanks! Now I need to get my head around doing it properly with a shared database etc... |

thx for testing ... we cook something up which will be called 11.0-4 and won't be something special but a clean buildbot build from Eden with iOS 5 support.
